2025 Municipal Candidate SurveyWhy We Created This SurveyLocal elections matter. Township supervisors and municipal leaders make decisions that directly impact Vacation Rental Homes (VRHs) in the Poconos—shaping regulations, fees, taxes, and zoning policies that affect property owners, residents, and the local economy. VRHs are more than just rentals. With over 6,500 properties across Wayne, Pike, Monroe, and Carbon Counties, they contribute an estimated $3 billion annually to the regional economy, generate millions in tax revenue, and support thousands of jobs. The Poconos VRO Municipal Candidate Survey was created to help voters understand where local candidates stand on these issues. What the Survey CoversThe survey asks candidates to share their views on:
The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete. Our Commitment to TransparencyWe will publish responses exactly as submitted by the candidates. Non-responses will also be noted so voters know which candidates chose not to participate. This ensures a fair, transparent process where the information comes directly from the candidates themselves. This survey was distributed to all Township Supervisor / Commissioner candidates in Coolbaugh, Tobyhanna, Kidder, Tunkhannock, Jackson, Smithfield, Barrett, Chestnut, Eldred, Hamilton, Paradise, Polk, Rose, Stroud and Pocono Townships.
